(My Mom - Carmelle Robichaud)
DOUGH:
2 cups flour
4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/4 cup shortening
3/4 cup milk (or slightly more, if necessary)
SPREAD:
Butter
Cinnamon
Brown Sugar
Crushed Pecans (optional)
Mix dough ingredients together as you would a pie crust. Flour your table surface and roll dough to about 1/4 inch thick. Spread Butter, then cinnamon and brown sugar (& crushed pecans, if you wish). Roll into a log and cut into slices. Place slices face up in a rectangular cooking dish. Set aside.
SAUCE:
3/4 cup molasses
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup brown sugar
butter and salt
Cook ingredients in saucepan until thick... approx. the consistency of "Corn Syrop". Pour over cinnamon rolls - sprinkle a few whole pecans (if desired) and bake in oven, 400 F, for 20 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 F and cook for another 10 minutes or so.
