Day 7

 (Saturday - 14 July 2007)

Up bright and early, Saturday morning. Gilbert worked a bit on the side entrance (AKA "Cat Room") and a bit on my "Stash Closet".  He wisely decided to work, FIRST, on the smaller and more difficult rooms and THEN, tackle the living room.

Of course, around 11 a.m., he had to go shopping for some more supplies, with Rosa in tow.  *sigh*

YES, I know it's for my future sewing room and YES,  I know it's difficult to figure out what you need, when you're in renovations, but it's still a pain in the you-know-where, to just pick up and leave the house (away from my on-going sewing projects) and come back 2 hours later.  LOL

In the meantime, he continues on renovations...

By the middle of the afternoon, it was HOT, in the side entrance room. He dug out an old headband.

I started calling him "Rambo"... or the Karate Kid. LOL

But the headband sure did the trick. No more sweat in the eyes!  *grin*

Same as in sewing...

Measure Twice -

Cut Once.

*s*

Okay, flooring is done and gyprock is placed on the walls.

He decided it would be better to place a sheet of gyprock, on the ceiling.

Those darn sheets are HEAVY!

So, he put in a temporary piece of wood. Plan was to LIFT the gyprock off the floor and gently let it rest (temporarily) on this piece of wood... till he climbed up the ladder... while I'm trying to hold up the sheet of gyprock with a length of 2 X 2 wood.

WHAT A FEAT!  LOL

But we managed.

Unfortunately, one corner kinda got damaged... squeezing up against the electrical panel.

Gilbert was not a Happy Camper, about that.

Another sore point, with Gilbert?

He was rather upset because he had difficulty finding "solid" wood beams, underneath the gyprock, to be able to drill in screws. Most times, he was drilling into "emptiness". Of course, when there's nothing underneath the sheet of gyprock, the screw doesn't hold.  Plus, you've gone and created un-necessary holes that will need to be crackfilled, later on.

Okay, while he was working on renovations, I had to keep busy, too! LOL

I'm working on a binding, on a quilt for our group of "GeoCachers".

There will be a ticket draw, on this quilt, sometime in September.

Need to finish it off, so that I can start another project! LOL

BTW, I did help Gilbert... whenever he asked. *s*

By the end of the day, this room is FINALLY completed - except for the framing of the door, opposite this one.

Lighting has been installed and "Fabric Closet" is finished! *s*

He calls it quits, around 6 p.m. Tomorrow is another day. *s*

And he also realized, by the end of the day, that he needs more 2" X 2" and other supplies.

We'll be heading out, tomorrow to pick up more supplies.
