Day 33

 (Saturday, 17 November 2007)

Okay, I moved into my sewing room/studio but Gilbert had promised to buy a sheet of melamine, to go over that old table, to give me more surface to sew and paint. As Gilbert had planned on fixing up the spare bedroom to become his "P.C." room AND he needed more gyprock, yesterday evening (Friday), we went and placed an order for the gyprock AND my melamine board.

I had already (temporarily) set up shop, on this old table. I had to take everything off, once the melamine was delivered.

We opened up the table and Gilbert added some boards, to make it more sturdy. *s*

Gilbert is trying to re-arrange the boards and measuring, to be sure everything is okay.

As they say,

 "Measure twice, cut once."

NOTE:  See the old iron? I'll explain why we needed it, down below

Sheet of melamine placed on top of the table. The edges need to be rounded off.

Okay, table corners have been rounded. Gilbert had a roll of white plastic "strips", for the edge of the melamine.

Remember that old iron? Well, what you do is place that "strip" over the edge of the melamine and run a very hot iron, over it. The "strip" has some kind of glue underneath it.

Then, you need to put pressure on the "strip" to make sure that it glues adhers.

Afterwards, Gilbert is running a block of sandpaper over the edges, to be sure that no glue sticks out and to smooth things out.

Here's Gilbert, again... sanding down the edge.

I now have a table surface that measures....

4' X 6'

NOTE:  Wrote this page on the 8th of December. I've been a bit slack on finishing up this page. Sorry 'bout that. *s*

Following web page will show what the room looks like, today.
