Day 1

 (Saturday, 30 June 2007)

Gilbert starts with some of the "wiring". As he'll be doing the walls in gyprock and a drop-down ceiling, these wires will not be visible.

My sewing/painting table will go between these 2 windows. Door on the left, is James' bedroom.

Don't know if you remember, but I had a picture of this closet, on the first page. I had to empty this closet completely and find hiding spots, for my fabric stash. Once everything is finished, it will still be a storage spot for my stash, but much nicer. *s*

"Corridor" to the right of this pic, is our side door and since we don't use this exit, we usually have this spot, for our cats (food, litter box, etc.).

As this is an old house, this light is the only one, in that whole room. As Gilbert will be putting in a "drop ceiling", he assures me that there will be PLENTY of lighting, in that room. *s*

We used to use this corridor for Novac, our previous German Shepherd - He sure did a number on that door! Gilbert plans on either fixing it up or replacing it, as there are slight cracks in that door, and you can see daylight, through it!

Here's another "job" that Novac, our previous German Shepherd, did to our window sill. Gilbert will be replacing it, of course... Along with the frame.

Gilbert is removing the window frame.

Early Saturday morning and we're waiting for our load of "lumber" to arrive.

Frame removed on one of the windows. We're always surprised at what we find behind the layers and layers of wallpaper.  *grin*

Plaster and small (thin) pieces of wood. That's what they put between the walls, in the late 1880's, I guess.

Gilbert plans on adding insulation under the gyprock, of course. *s*

YES!!!

Lumber has arrived!!!

Gilbert is watching and eager to start.

Lumber in the back yard.

THANK GOD our neighbour helped Gilbert to place the lumber in our baby barn!!!

That stuff's HEAVY!  LOL

Actually, this is part is part of day two.

The flooring is COMPLETELY crooked, in this old house.

He leveled the flooring, with the "strapping", as best as he could. This took almost all afternoon and he stopped, for the day, when he placed on sheet of "flooring".
