Easy Gifts for Babies:
Yes, we’re all geared to head out to our local fabric store and buy the latest “in” fabrics, for the latest addition in our family. But, there are other items you can make, instead.
How about a few “Burp Cloths”?
I’m guessing that flannel would be just as good as the “Gerber” baby diapers.
Or a couple “Receiving Blankets”?
Cute little “Pumpkin Candy Case” tutorial:
Personally, I wash my quilts like my other laundry. I don’t have any antique quilts so I’m not too concerned about this. Nevertheless, I thought some of you might find this information interesting.
For you Duck Dynasty Lover. Fabric will be available soon, I’m told.
What a jaw dropping block!!! “Basket Weave Star Braid Block” (paper pieced)
You all know how much I LOVE using up my scrap fabrics?
Here’s a great stash buster – “Dissappearing 16 Patch Block”:
Did you ever take a class and only made that one, really complicated 12 or 16 inch block, that’s now languishing in a bag or box? Get that block out and make a tote or bag with it! Make a cushion! Frame it! Donate it to the “Veteran’s Thank You” quilts via the Marco Polo Quilt Guild… They accept quilt block(s), quilt top(s) and single bed quilt(s), for our Veterans.
Don’t just let your quilt block(s) sit there – DO something with it!
The Compass Collection
(FREE for a limited time only!!!)
If you’re interested, I would strongly recommend that you download the PDF(s) into your computer…. ASAP!!!
These are all paper pieced, I believe, and are absolutely INCREDIBLE!!!
Gerri Richards, our local designer will be teaching classes on a 10 Day Eastern Caribbean Cruise, on March 11th to the 21st, 2014!!! Start saving your pennies…. Ooops, I meant your “nickles” as this promises to be fun, fun, fun!!!
I’ve recently been appointed on the “Media” committee, with the Marco Polo Quilt Guild and I know some of you are already members of the Marco Polo Quilt Guild or the Kennebecasis Valley Quilt Guild but for those of you that aren’t a guild member, please come out and join our fun.
Anyhow, here’s the info that I’ve been sending out to our local media:
The Marco Polo Quilting Guild (MPQG) welcomes all those interested in quilting, whether they are beginners or experienced quilters. The Guild will be presenting “Beginners” workshops this fall, as well as various other workshops throughout the year.
Join us at St. Columba Church, 1454 Manawagonish Rd., Saint John, on the first Wednesday of every month (7 to 9 pm) and every Thursday morning (10 am to 2 pm). Bring a friend, enjoy the programs, take a workshop and learn a most enjoyable, relaxing and time-honoured skill.
For further information, please contact:
Rosa Robichaud 672-8910
Also, I’ve created a FaceBook “Group” page for the Marco Polo Quilt Guilt. Please join up, whether you’re a Marco Polo member or not. You’ll get to see what’s going on, with our Guild!
And one last item… Gerri sent me this info. I’ve signed up - Hope to see you there! NOTE: Just a friendly word of advice - Space is limited!
Would you like to join us this November 15 - 17 for our Annual Quilting Retreat? The Retreat is at The Villa Madonna, such a great setting! You can quilt all day and night if you like, or stop for a walk through the beautiful grounds of Villa Madonna. We will have lots of fun games and many prizes, lots of fun! There will be a couple of neat projects that you have the choice of participating in, or not. Bring along those UFOs that you have been meaning to get to.
We had such a fantastic time last year, and can't wait to do it again! This year I will have just returned from Quilt Market in Houston, so I hope there will be lots of new ideas to share with you.
For those who did go last year and wish to go again, please drop me an e-mail or phone call to confirm your spot. For new people, call or e-mail me to sign up. Hope to see you all there.
