A friend of mine wrote to me recently and said I could “share” with you.  Here’s what she wrote:

Hi Rosa

Thought  you might be interested in this hint from my friend at the guild in BC.  I've done this with the coloured tape from JoAnn but post-it notes would be cheaper.  My "frugal" mind at work!!  :)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So, you go to the dollar store and buy a package of small post it notes (any colour will do).
When you have to do lots of cutting of an odd size strips (which Karen describes as 2 1/4 or 2 3/4 etc. and I would describes as 1 5/8, 1 7/8 etc.) take off at least two little piles of post it notes and attach them to the bottom of your ruler.
So you can now place the edge of your fabric up to the post it notes and you will have the correct measurement for cutting.
I have always done this with masking tape, but the post it note thickness will give you that depth to place fabric up against.
One of our quilty friends, Elizabeth, shared her Aunt Betty’s Minestrone Soup recipe with me.  We tried it out and it was DELICIOUS!!!   With her permission, I’m sharing it with you…
