Late once again, here’s March’s e-Newsletter….
Do you love batiks? Wonder how to pick and choose which batiks to put in your quilt? Here’s a YouTube video and this gal has some good suggestions:
Hexagons - Eye Candy, as well as a cute video of Archie, the Wonder Dog!
Janet Clare’s “Cat Quilt”. I can assume that this technique could be used with most other animals, as well…. IF you were so inclined. *s*
Sarah’s Hand Embroidery Tutorials: Another GREAT site for embroidery stitches!
The Elven Garden – “Woven Block Tutorial”. How easy can THIS be?!?!? Love EASY quilts that look complicated and spectacular!!!
How to make a plastic messenger bag…. Or What to do with your plastic grocery bags. Either way, I thought this YouTube video and bag idea was fascinating! Great project with your teenager, too!
A friend of mine wrote to me recently and said I could “share” with you. Here’s what she wrote:
Thought you might be interested in this hint from my friend at the guild in BC. I've done this with the coloured tape from JoAnn but post-it notes would be cheaper. My "frugal" mind at work!! :)
So, you go to the dollar store and buy a package of small post it notes (any colour will do).
When you have to do lots of cutting of an odd size strips (which Karen describes as 2 1/4 or 2 3/4 etc. and I would describes as 1 5/8, 1 7/8 etc.) take off at least two little piles of post it notes and attach them to the bottom of your ruler.
So you can now place the edge of your fabric up to the post it notes and you will have the correct measurement for cutting.
I have always done this with masking tape, but the post it note thickness will give you that depth to place fabric up against.
One of our quilty friends, Elizabeth, shared her Aunt Betty’s Minestrone Soup recipe with me. We tried it out and it was DELICIOUS!!! With her permission, I’m sharing it with you…
A while back, a couple friends and I designed a BOM (Block of the Month) with baskets. With their permission, I will be uploading and sharing 1 basket pattern each month.
Here’s the first one – March’s Basket Block
I hope you enjoy them! If and when you make yours, please send me a picture. With your permission, I’ll gladly add it to the webpage!
We’ve picked up several new pantographs - They’re absolutely gorgeous!
